Chris Bosh‘s decision as to where he’ll play next season just got a little more difficult.

According to writer Chris Broussard, the Houston Rockets have reportedly offered Bosh a four-year, $88 million max contract, and he’s said to be “considering” taking it.

Broussard reports that after a weekend conversation with LeBron James – who Bosh’s decision may ultimately come down to – and a low offer from the Miami Heat, Bosh is now mulling a move to Houston.

However, Bosh will probably not make his choice until he knows exactly what James’ doing. Should James opt to remain a member of the Heat, Bosh’s return would almost seem inevitable, given their success together.

Yet, if you’re Bosh, leaving $88 million on the table is very foolish, considering he’ll probably never see this type of offer again. And given the fact Bosh has said he won’t take a significant pay cut – contrary to reports – and accompanied with the fact he’s getting older, this deal makes perfect sense.

It’s not as if he’ll be moving to a team that doesn’t have the pieces in place to contend for an NBA title. Houston already has James Harden and Dwight Howard aboard. So, in theory, Bosh would be manifesting his own Big Three in Texas, and be getting paid all at the same time.

For the Rockets, this isn’t a no-brainer, it’s a no-brain offer.

Fact of the matter is, Bosh is 30, and this past season was his worst statistical season since his rookie year (2003-04). Personally, he’s not worth the money they’re throwing at him. But hey, it seems like if you want to desperately add someone nowadays in the NBA you have to be prepared to break the bank.

Nonetheless, this enticing offer from the Rockets just spiced things up a bit in this summer’s free agency frenzy.

In 79 regular-season contests for the Heat last season, Bosh averaged 16.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists-per-game. In 20 playoff tilts, he averaged 14.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists-per-game.
