Conor McGregor made a vow today at the UFC Dublin pre-fight press conference that he will become champion in 2014.

“I have a clear, clear vision that that gold belt is around my waist by the end of the year”

“By the end of 2014, and, I don’t know why but it’s clear as day that that belt is wrapped around my waist”

The Notorious candidly informed the press of his prophetic abilities and explained why he felt there was no reason to doubt his prediction.

“I had that clear, clear vision. I seem to have the habit of predicting the future. I have these visions and they seem to come true. I’m never going to doubt them and no one else should, either.”

First up for the Dubliner is the explosive Diego Brandao. The TUF 14 winner is a dangerous opponent but McGregor admitted he is thriving under the pressure of facing him.

“There is no pressure for me. Pressure is an illusion and I want that illusion of pressure. Heap more on. Give me more pressure so when I put this guy away and make it look easy, which I will do, people will say ‘how did he do that?'””

“You’re going to see a true number one contender here on Saturday night.”

Cub Swanson is one the guest fighters for UFC Dublin. The #4 featherweight’s presence in the Irish capital immediately brought up questions over whether a possible bout between himself and McGregor could be in the works. The Notorious was quick to reveal to everyone exactly why he thought the UFC brought Swanson along to the event.

“The performance I’m going to put in will stake my claim. They brought Cub Swanson over here and I told him today outside the elevator. I said’they’re bringing you over so you can sit front row and take a good look at a real number one contender. ”

When asked what Swanson’s response to that was, McGregor retorted, “You’re right.”
