The Washington Capitals are set to play outside again, and so are the Chicago Blackhawks.

Only this time, its against each other.

According to TSN insider Bob McKenzie, Washington is reportedly going to host Chicago for next year’s Bridgestone Winter Classic on Jan. 1. Although there has yet to be a confirmed venue, McKenzie reports a likely spot would be Nationals Park.

Other venues that are said to be in the running to host the WC include FedExField and RFK Stadium – per ESPN.com.

This will be the second time Washington has entertained an outdoor game, with their previous outing being against the Pittsburgh Penguins back in 2011. Washington won the game 3-1, and it was also prominent because it’s the apparent contest where Pens’ captain Sidney Crosby suffered his infamous quote-unquote concussion.

Chicago will be entering their third go-round with the WC, with their most recent one this past March against Pittsburgh, which they won convincingly (5-1). Their other outdoor game was versus the Detroit Red Wings in 2009, and they lost 6-4.

This past WC – Jan. 1, 2014 – was played between the Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto won the tilt 3-2.
