There’s a new sheriff in town.

According to ESPN NBA correspondent Marc Stein, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is reportedly expected to be named the NBA’s MVP by next week.

This will be Durant’s first MVP award. Miami Heat guard Lebron James has won the last two years.

Leading the league with an average of 32 points-per-game during the regular-season, Durant was Mr. everything for Oklahoma City this year. Durant also averaged 5.5 assists and 7.4 rebounds-per-game.

Durant helped push Oklahoma City to the second-round Saturday, after posting a team-high 33 points.

It has been often debated on who is better – Durant or James? Now that Durant has an MVP in his showcase, the only thing missing is a title.

Very possible to think both of them will face-off for the hardware in a few weeks. But will Durant come out on top? We’ll see.
