Miesha Tate vs Liz Carmouche

Miesha Tate won a hard-fought three round war against Liz Carmouche by unanimous decision  29-28 29-28 29-28 at UFC on Fox 11 in his home state of Florida.

It was Carmouche that started brighter easily controlling Tate who started uncharacteristically slow. Both fighters traded early before Liz landed the first of her three first round takedowns. Liz controlled Miesha without exerting much damage to easily take the first round.

The second round looked to be going in the same direction with Tate coming out strong and Liz taking her down and controlling her. This was until Miesha`s ground game kicked in with a slick submission attempt`s that nearly caught Liz. This round of all of them was easily the closest.

This round was all Tate and without doubt won her the round. Tate landed early before taking Liz down and keeping her there for the duration of the round. Numerous rear naked attempts nearly finished the fight but the durable Carmouche survived, in the meantime giving up the decision to the relieved Tate.

Miesha is still in the top three of the women’s division and with this win she guarantee’s that only the elite can best her. What is next for Tate is a little unknown, her loss to Rousey is still too fresh in memory for a title shot but more wins like this will do her no harm.
